Koura awarded Platinum medal from EcoVadis for sustainability

Koura has recently been awarded a EcoVadis Platinum medal as a result of scoring in the top 1% in their sustainability assessment.

As part of the Orbia family, Koura lives and operates by three core values; to embrace diversity, to take responsibility and to be brave. A key driver in taking responsibility has been making a real commitment to sustainability, at all levels of our operation.

The EcoVadis assessment of sustainability ratings takes a comprehensive look at the day-to-day operations of a business and their impact on the environment and the future.

Koura was awarded the Platinum medal as recognition of our EcoVadis Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) rating, ranking in the top 1% of the 2020 EcoVadis Sustainability Ratings.

With an overall score of 78 landing us in the 99th percentile of rated companies, our individual scores were 80 for environment, 80 for human and labour rights, 80 for ethics and 60 for sustainable procurement which we are actively looking to improve further.

The assessment aims to understand the full picture of a company’s CSR performance standalone and in relation to their industry. Highlights of Koura’s performance in sustainability include our parent company Orbia being a Global Compact Signatory, an initiative founded by the United Nations Global Compact. The initiative mandates signatories to adopt and report on sustainable and socially responsible policies. Other highlights which attributed to our Platinum award centred around our comprehensive environmental policy, our robust procedures and prestigious accreditations, such as ISO 14001.
