Lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6) is a critical component of virtually all Li-Ion batteries produced today.
As the most used lithium salt, LiPF6 contributes to the conductivity, thermal and electrochemical stability of the electrolyte that determines the overall performance of a Li-Ion battery.
Orbia’s F&EM vertical integration to fluorspar, a critical mineral, enables resilient supply chain for our customers. Combining fluorine and industrial process expertise, we have developed a high-performance LiPF6 salt.
With no current large-scale production of LiPF6 in North America today, Orbia F&EM is moving forward constructing its first production facility with the capability to produce up to 10,000MT of LiPF6 annually.
The new LiPF6 production will be constructed in St. Gabriel, LA on the grounds of Orbia’s F&EM existing fluorochemical production site.
