Lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF₆) is a critical component of virtually all Li-Ion batteries produced today.

As the most used lithium salt, LiPF₆ contributes to the conductivity, thermal and electrochemical stability of the electrolyte that determines the overall performance of a Li-Ion battery.

Orbia’s F&EM vertical integration to fluorspar, a critical mineral, enables resilient supply chain for our customers. Combining fluorine and industrial process expertise, we have developed a high-performance LiPF₆ salt. 

With no current large-scale production of LiPF₆ in North America today, Orbia F&EM is moving forward constructing its first production facility with the capability to produce up to 10,000MT of LiPF₆ annually.

The new LiPF₆ production will be constructed in St. Gabriel, LA on the grounds of Orbia’s F&EM existing fluorochemical production site.
