Our rich history, a 100 years in the making, has seen us from our days as ICI and later Ineos, all the way up to our time as Mexichem and Mexichem Fluor. In September 2019, we rebranded to become Koura, as you know us now.

We are the largest producer of fluorospar in the world and our fluoroproducts are used in millions of everyday applications around the world.
Covering a wide range of services, our ‘mine-to-market’ model ensures a secure supply chain for our customers. Our Las Cuevas mine is the largest fluorospar mineral body in the world and is fully integrated with our Matamoros chemical plant.
Our Upstream operations include product offerings in acidspar, HF and metspar steel and cement. We’re also global leaders in the refrigerants and medical propellant industries thanks to our Downstream brands Klea and Zephex.
Our Klea 134a refrigerant is used in over 12 million new cars each year and our Zephex 134a is the leading solution for medical propellants.
Since 2012, we’ve trebled our research and development spend creating innovative solutions with a lower environmental impact. Our next-gen and low GWP Klea refrigerants offer both a lower environmental impact with significantly improved performance. Our LFR5 and LFR3 refrigerants are suitable for a range of applications, with future solutions still to come.
Zephex’s low GWP solution 152a is the future of medical propellants, offering a greater than 90% reduction in GWP than current incumbent products with minimal disruption.
